As tension mounts in Plateau State following two incidents of heavy militant killings this weekend, security agents say they have discovered 50 corpses in the burnt home of a pastor in Matse village of Riyom local government area.

The bodies, some of them burnt beyond recognition, were discovered in the home of a pastor of the Church of Christ in Nigeria (COCIN), and family sources said they belonged to people who ran into the pastor's home for safety as Fulani gunmen surrounded and attacked the area on Saturday morning.

Some 20 persons were killed in nine villages in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.

And today, during a mass burial for those victims, gunmen in military uniform attacked mourners, killing many people, including a Senator, a member of the House of Representatives, and Plateau State assemblyman.
The government has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on the state, while soldiers have been drafted in to ensure order.

Here’s the Most Stunning Photo of Mars the World Has Ever Seen

NASA has released a new panorama from its Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity, showing the terrain where the robot spent the four-month Martian winter.

The full-circle scene combines 817 images shot by the panoramic camera (Pancam). You can download the complete image and learn more about the expedition on NASA’s website.

This full-circle scene combines 817 images taken by the panoramic camera (Pancam) on NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity. It shows the terrain that surrounded the rover while it was stationary for four months of work during its most recent Martian winter.

Opportunity's Pancam took the component images between the 2,811th Martian day, or sol, of the rover's Mars surface mission (Dec. 21, 2011) and Sol 2,947 (May 8, 2012). Opportunity spent those months on a northward sloped outcrop, "Greeley Haven," which angled the rover's solar panels toward the sun low in the northern sky during southern hemisphere winter. The outcrop's informal name is a tribute to Ronald Greeley (1939-2011), who was a member of the mission team and who taught generations of planetary scientists at Arizona State University, Tempe. The site is near the northern tip of the "Cape York" segment of the western rim of Endeavour Crater.

North is at the center of the image. South is at both ends. On the far left at the horizon is "Rich Morris Hill." That outcrop on Cape York was informally named in memory of John R. "Rich" Morris (1973-2011), an aerospace engineer and musician who was a Mars rover team member and mission manager at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena.

Katie Holmes Divorce: Actress Easing Back Into Normalcy

                                                                    Katie Holmes

From catching yellow cabs to doing her own shopping, life has changed considerably for Katie Holmes since she filed for divorce, but it seems like the ex-Mrs. Tom Cruise couldn’t be happier.
"She looked really happy as she pushed Suri around Wholefoods in a shopping cart," one customer told me. "She picked out lettuce and orange juice and if it wasn’t for the fact that she was being followed by a personal bodyguard, she would have looked like any other shopper."

This is a far cry from the life she led with Tom, which included personal chefs and a staff that did all of the family's shopping. The mother and daughter have also exchanged luxury homes around the world for a three bedroom apartment in Chelsea, right on busy Seventh Avenue. Ironically, Tom’s ex Penelope Cruz also owns an apartment on the tenth floor of the building.

"She is keeping to herself," one resident tells me. "She has been very polite to everyone, but surprisingly we have not seen maids, butlers, personal chefs and the army of staff you associate with Tom descend upon the building. In fact, the only thing that has arrived since Katie and Suri [moved in] is the crazy amount of photographers camped outside each day."

The building has even put up barricades outside the front door to hold the press at bay.

"Katie saw all of her nieces and nephews going to school and having normal childhoods and she realized she wanted her daughter to have a normal childhood as well," a family friend told The Daily Beast.

The mom and daughter were even seen a few nights ago, getting into a yellow taxi after enjoying ice cream in the East Village -- normal seems to be Katie and Suri’s new religion. Could the subway be next?

Roger Federer made history: Defeats Andy Murray In Wimbledon Men's Singles Final

History.

The scoreboard at the All England Club on Sunday indicated that the Wimbledon men's singles final was contested between Roger Federer and Andy Murray. But both men faced a second opponent.

History.

With the crowd behind him at Centre Court, and throughout Britain, Murray was attempting to become the first British man to win at Wimbledon since Fred Perry in 1936.

For Federer, another win on his preferred surfaces ties him with Pete Sampras for seven Wimbledon titles. It also moves him back to the top of the tennis rankings, also tying the record of 286 weeks ranked in the top spot.

Federer was up to the task when it came to both challenges. He defeated Murray to make history.

Perhaps buoyed by the partisan crowd, Murray took the first set, 6-4. However that would be all the glory for the 25-year-old from Scotland. Showing a grace that belies his age and the tenacity of someone looking for his first grand slam title, Federer won the next three sets, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4.

MEN'S FINAL PREVIEW: RECORD IN SIGHT FOR FEDERER

Roger Federer is just one win away from scribbling yet another line into the tennis history books. With six Wimbledon titles and an all-time men’s record of 16 Grand Slam titles to his name, Federer looks to collect his first major since a victory at the Australian Open in 2010 over Andy Murray. Additionally, if he should prove Sunday’s stronger player on Centre Court, he will regain the No.1 ranking.
Federer’s opponent in a final for the seventh time, Murray seeks to rewrite history of his own by breaking through with a Championship win during an era dominated at the majors by Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. With a victory on Sunday, Murray would become the first British player since Fred Perry’s third consecutive win at the All England Club back in 1936.
The task ahead for the Scot would seem nearly impossible with a quick glance at the record books. After claiming his initial Grand Slam title at Wimbledon 2003 with a straight-sets victory over Mark Philippoussis, Federer rolled on grass to take four straight Championships. In 2008, however, he fell to Nadal in a five-set classic. In the next year, Federer regrouped to win, defeating American Andy Roddick in a final for a third time on the final day of the Fortnight, 16-14 in the fifth.

STUNNING SERENA WINS FIFTH WIMBLEDON SINGLES TITLE

Serena Williams does not keep her Grand Slam runners-up trophies. She can’t bear to look at them, so repelled is she by defeat. Somewhere on the planet four such prizes are gathering rust, two from the All England Club and two from the US Open. So one way or another, the 2012 Wimbledon final was about number five – a fifth title for Serena here, or a fifth runners-up plate to be discarded on the scrapheap. She knew which she wanted, and she made it happen.
“I wanted to win here so badly,” she said, just an hour after she became Wimbledon champion 2012. “Winning is so amazing. Each title is special but this is super-special because it’s a huge comeback for me. Oh my gosh, I still can’t believe I was able to come through and win my seven matches.
