Obi Emelonye’s Last Flight to Abuja to land soon at cinemas

After recording an impressive clean out at major awards; Zulu African Film Academy Awards (ZAFFA) and African Film Academy Awards last year with his film, Mirror Boy, Obi Emelonye is back this year with another blockbuster hit, Last Flight to Abuja.

Obi Emelonye who won the Creative Person of the Year Award by The Sun Newspaper, set out on the Last Flight to Abuja project, a movie which focused on the ills in our Aviation industry and the unforgivable human errors that often occur in that sphere.

Fans’ favourite, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, the very firm, Jim Iyke, Hollywood and Nigerian actor, Hakeem Kae Kazeem, Jide Kosoko, Ali Nuhu, Celine Loader and a host of others took part in the movie that is already getting the people of London talking.

The movie recently premiered at the Troxy Cinema in East London, with star actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Jim Iyke and others in attendance; the London premiere was dedicated to the loving memory of over 150 passengers of the ill-fated Dana air crash with their names replacing the end credit of the movie.

Last Flight to Abuja reveals extensively, the daring mid-air difficulties that stares most Nigerian commercial planes in the face and how they are forced to make emergency landing which sometimes leads to very devastating consequences.

The movie will premiere on Friday 3rd, August in Lagos and will be in cinemas from Saturday, 4th August, 2012.

Synopsis: A set of everyday Nigerian travellers’ board the last Flamingo Airways flight scheduled to fly from Lagos to Abuja on a fateful Friday night in 2006. The plane cruises at 30,000 feet, tranquil and on schedule. But like a bolt out of the blue, through a mixture of human error, technical failure and bad luck, the plane rapidly develops major faults that send it teetering on the brink of disaster.

As the pilots fight with the controls of the stricken plane, a series of flashbacks unravel the twists, turns and leaps of fate that put each passenger on the fateful flight. Young lovers, an elderly couple, a corporate party, a sportsman on the threshold of greatness; all the passengers are caught up in the nightmare scenario and sense the final moments of their lives approaching.

Rick Ross announces August 17 performance in Nigeria

On August 17, 2012, Nigerian music lovers will be able to watch one of the biggest Hip-hop artistes in the world, Rick Ross, perform live at the Expo Hall of the Eko Hotel and Suites.

‘It is official…I will be on stage with some of your favourite artistes at the Expo Centre, Eko Hotel. We are taking over Lagos, Nigeria’ Rick Ross said in a video drop obtained by Nigerian Entertainment Today.

The gig called ‘Summer Jam Festival‘ is being put together by St. Eve’s Magazine, and we’ll bring you more details as they unfold.

The August visit will be Rick Ross’ third visit to Nigeria. He first visited the country in 2010 when he performed at the MTV Africa Music Awards in Lagos. He returned later that year, in December to headline a hip hop concert promoted by Kilimanjaro events

Sofia Vergara, 'Modern Family' Star, Is TV's Highest Paid Actress

Sofia Vergara might have just celebrated her 40th birthday with a surprise engagement, but hopefully the "Modern Family" star has some more spare time in her schedule to celebrate being named the highest-paid actress on television.

Forbes estimates that Vergara raked in approximately $19 million between May 2011 and May 2012. At the same time, Latin WE, the media company she co-founded in 1996, pulled in a total of $27 million.

Vergara's face is seemingly everywhere these days: She endorses major brands like CoverGirl and Diet Pepsi and she even has her own clothing line at Kmart.

"Her appeal with Hispanics is unrivaled; she has a positive Q Score more than twice that of the average celebrity," Forbes' Meghan Casserly wrote. "And with the ABC smash hit 'Modern Family,' Vergara’s won over American audiences without alienating her Latina roots. For advertisers, the combination is electric."

And Vergara knows her sex appeal has only helped with her success.

“Part of my career has always been because of the way I look,” the Colombian actress told InStyle. “I’m not ashamed. It has opened doors. But I also know that if I didn’t have something else, I’d be long gone.”

Her $19 million in earnings placed Vergara in the top spot, ahead of E! reality star, Kim Kardashian, who earned approximately $18 million between May 2011 and May 2012. In April, the Kardashian clan signed a $40 million deal with E! for three more years of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," making it the heftiest deal ever in reality TV, according to TMZ.

Tom Cruise Rebound Rumors: Has He Chosen Yolanda Pecoraro As His Next Love Interest?

As rumors that Katie Holmes was "cast" in the role of Tom Cruise's third wife and signed a contract that allegedly expired right around the time she filed for divorce continue to persist, it's no surprise that there's already chatter of who will take on Holmes' role as the next Mrs. Tom Cruise.

RadarOnline is reporting that Yolanda Pecoraro, a virtually unknown actress, has been cast to fill Holmes' shoes. Experts claim that the 27-year-old could be the perfect fit for Cruise, as she's a devout Scientologist and has had two past relationships with other church members.

The website reports that Scientology expert Margery Wakefield told the National Enquirer that Cruise's next wife will be a member of the church, and a former member of the organization explained that Pecoraro is a "Scientology princess," who has been taking courses since she was 13 years old.

RadarOnline also points out that it's not the first time the actress has been linked to Cruise. In author Andrew Morton's 2008 book, "Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography" he writes that Pecoraro first met Cruise at the opening of a new Scientology center in Spain in 2004 and allegedly became his girlfriend. The book contains a photo of Cruise, Pecoraro and his high-profile pals David and Victoria Beckham at a soccer game a month after the two allegedly first met.

The claims seem dubious, but the National Enquirer was able to speak with the actress, who told the tabloid, "Yes, I knew and still know Tom Cruise. And no, I'm not married or engaged."

Though her comment doesn't give any credence to the claims that she could be the next Mrs. Tom Cruise, it certainly suggests Pecoraro has a publicist who knows a good opportunity when she sees one.

An insider goes so far as to claim that even though Yolanda lives with a boyfriend, the Church of Scientology is so embarrassed by Cruise's divorce that they are desperate to "stabilize the situation quickly" -- and there have been reports that the church is very unhappy with the onslaught of media coverage.

Given that Cruise is now living under a microscope, it seems unlikely that a new woman will be "cast" as his romantic interest anytime soon. Cruise was apparently blindsided by the divorce and heartbroken. Last week, the 50-year-old actor's lawyer Bert Fields told reporters, "[Cruise is] still tremendously saddened and shocked about the divorce. Tom is obviously relieved that the settlement was reached, but is still sad, obviously."
